Super Committee failed? Color me surprised. NOT!
I’m so angry about this right now. I hope I calm down about it, because there is nothing I can do about it. I saw the writing on the wall months ago, when President Obama needed this provision to ram the debt ceiling increase through Congress, saving his presidential bacon. Trillions more in debt, when all we had to do is not spend it. But, the President had a plan, and he executed it perfectly.
What did he want the most, besides the tax increases (more on that in a minute)? He wanted cuts in defense, which every left leaning and isolationist group in the country calls for every year. Never mind that the entire defense budget wouldn’t make a dent in the deficit (yes deficit, which is at $1.4 trillion dollars. The Debt™ is at $15 trillion, and rolling up like a pinball machine). So he cuts a deal to convene a “super committee” (unconstitutional to boot, but I digress), tasked to cut $1.2 trillion dollars over 10 years ($120 billion a year, a drop in the bucket). If they failed, mandatory cuts occur in defense (wow, who saw that coming?) and entitlements (by law, these must be paid, so there’s no way they get cut).
Fast forward to today. Super committee failure, and now defense will be cut. How do you tell me Obama isn’t the big winner here? How is he not playing politics with people’s livelihoods? Republicans offered tax increases (I will NOT say tax revenues, go ahead and pull out my fingernails) against the wishes of the very people that voted them in. Remember 2010? Remember how many seats changed hands? Which direction did the mood of the country go, judging by changing of the guard in Congress? IT WENT RIGHT, CONSERVATIVE! Go ahead and argue, liberal buttheads, plain facts will not prove your friend in this case. Now, they offer tax increases AT THEIR OWN POLITICAL PERIL, and they are shot down out of hand.
You know why? BECAUSE THE DEMOCRATS ON THE COMMITTEE DID EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO! They had to do NOTHING, and they would deliver the exact position that the President needed for his win. Go ahead, argue why I’m wrong! You won’t win, cuz I’m right, and you know it.
Well played, President Obama. You won.

Yep, right on schedule, Obama comes on TV, blaming everything on Republicans. And he’ll get away with it. (I DVR’d The Five, so that’s why I’m time shifted). Answers no questions either.

Just told the wife last night, “Enjoy this Thanksgiving and Christmas, because I don’t believe we will be seeing another like them (and past holidays of the same name) anytime in the next 10-20 years.
As much as I dislike Obambi, and I do so dislike him, this isn’t all his fault. The stage has been set by previous administrations and ongoing versions of both Houses. We are, however, the generation which will reap the “benefits” of all which has and is now going on before us.
By all means, let’s turn most of the mid-east into a glass parking lot. But right after that, we need to do the same to the cesspool that is Washington DC. I am not saying DC is fiscally, morally, and ethically bankrupt, but it would have given Sodom and Gomorrah second and third place, respectively, had it been around during their existence, a couple of thousand years and a half ago or so.
The entire game is rigged. The winners and losers have already been chosen. Perhaps the time has come to water the “tree of liberty” with some politicians blood.
