So we’re getting a deal on a continuing resolution
New deal reduces disaster aid to $2.5 billion. Huh, wha?
The original bill didn’t reduce the aid, it kept it at $3.7 billion. What caused this latest deal? I would imagine the green energy loan program was taken out of the deal.
Earlier on Monday, just before Senate Republicans filibustered Reid’s proposed CR, aides in both parties announced a compromise bill with reduced disaster-aid funding.
The key to the deal was reducing disaster funding from $3.65 billion to $2.5 billion and otherwise keeping the measure a “clean CR.”
Clean CR = not attaching a whole bunch of spending or cuts to the bill. Which is what the Dems have been doing since 2007.
Edit: Yep, they left the offsets in.
Roll Call: Reid Again Asks House for Compromise on CR
Now prepare for the speeches on the heartlessness of the GOP, for cutting $1.1 billion from FEMA, when it’s actually the Democrats that did it, to save their precious green energy programs.
